After remembering about the EA and Epic "Surprise" mechanics fiasco I start to worry that this game's popularity that government lobbyists will try to make gacha games as part of the Loot box ban. P.S: I like this game for what it gives but it's gacha mechanics are a pain in the ass to do. http://archive.is/hE9cV This is a repost because I forgot to archive the previous version. This is big, because the House of Lords in the UK are the ones that shape laws. So, if they've decided that Lootboxes are to be considered gambling, this could mean that games such as FIFA, and Fortnite won't be able to exploit children into racking up these huge bills, and could also force changes into the games industry, at least in the UK. This could involve any game that involves such practices being labelled with an 18 BBFC certificate, making it illegal to sell to anybody under that age. This could be a point in which a corner is turned.
From now until 22nd November the UK Government are asking for evidence regarding the negative impact of lootboxes to be used to potentially change regulations including the possibility of officially considering them gambling. They do not specify that evidence is exclusive to UK residents.
Bye bye Plarium! UK isn't their biggest market but it's worth a few quid. Europe well follow shortly, but not sure U.S. will regulate as it's open season for gambling companies there right now.
